Alaskan King Eider Program
Throughout the 90's, I spent a great deal of time researching locations, Hunting, and collecting Alaskan Sea ducks. The King Eider was always the issue. Fortunately, with some persistent hunting and help from friends, I had opportunities to collect some nice birds from the Kodiak region. However, I knew their had to be a better, more consistent place to do this. The problem with this is the remote areas that do not have the proper equipment. I was on the very first research trip to "the moon" so to speak was quite interesting. Having successfully collected birds on the trip with virtually no equipment, trial and error and a great deal of investment in equipment has enabled better opportunities for Collectors traveling to this "Deadliest Catch" homeland. Not only is it known for being the King of Crab…. It is the "King of the Eider" as well.
There will be 4 weeks of hunting from the last week of Dec. through the 3rd week of Jan.
Dec 28th - Jan 23rd
King Eider:
The hunt is focused mainly for the King, however, Opportunity for Oldsquaw, Harlequin, and some Scoter (Black and White Wing are obtainable, however, they play 2nd to harvesting a Mature King.
A limit of 4 king eiders per person/per season, Harlequin is 4, Squaw is 4, as well as the other sea duck species. No more than 20 sea ducks may be taken annually per non resident.
The Pribiloff Islands has potential to be very brutal. The wind, ice, rain, cold, and snow, and shooting ability all play a factor for safety and success. We will be working with APICDA and the native corporations involving our locations.
$2500-4500: Depending on location, some hunts are exploratory and can be booked at a lower cost.
NOT INCLUDED
Airfare
Hunting License (ak) Federal or state Stamps
Please Note: All deposits are non-refundable. 50% deposit to reserve the hunt is required and is non refundable! The remaining balance will be due 60 days prior to departure.
This is a very extreme hunt. There are no guarantees, just opportunities. Weather is uncontrollable and trip insurance will be required to reserve this hunt. Please understand, you will need to be able to mentally prepare yourself for some intense cold, wind, and adversity at times. However, this is the best chance at a King Eider period.
