Ducks:
Ducks will be hunted mornings and afternoons in large Marshes over decoys. The water is sometimes waist deep so Chest waders are required. There is no limit on ducks. #6 Lead shot is used and no plug is required. There will be 2 hunters at each station, each hunter will have a "bird boy" who will retrieve your birds, carry gear, ammo, and decoys. DO NOT FORGET THESE GUYS WHEN IT COMES TIME TO TIP! Hunters can expect to shoot anywhere from 10-110 ducks per hunt. One must remember that he or she is hunting WILD birds! On the average hunters will take 30-50 birds per 2 people in the mornings. Weather determines number of birds taken most of the time. If it is hot and no wind, the birds do not move as well. Nonetheless, it is better than anywhere else I have ever been! Evening hunting is usually less productive producing 20-30 birds per 2 hunters. The duck area is ducks only. No other hunts available. Hunts will be AM and PM shoots. Hunters will travel back to the Estancia (place you stay) for lunch, or have a BBQ in the field (highly recommended).
Geese:
Goose hunting takes place in wheat or sunflower fields in the morning. Groups of 3-5 hunters will line up in a decoy spread laying 15 feet apart in elevated concealed ground blinds. These birds seem to have to fly over fences they come in so low! Flocks of 5 -50 are common. Morning totals range from 25 -150 birds per group. The hunt usually lasts 3 hours and the birds stop flying. It is the best decoy shooting for geese I have ever seen. Most shots are 35 yds or less. #4 lead is used for the geese.
Doves:
In the Salta region there are #$%@%* amounts of Doves. You can shoot until your shoulder is blue. However, on the combo hunts offered for Ducks, geese,Doves, and Perdiz, you will be shooting PM roosts after the Goose Hunts. Roost shoots can produce up to 200 plus birds an afternoon. It is not uncommon to shoot 10-20 boxes of shells. It is a great challenge and adds variety to your hunt. Pigeons will also be available in the same areas as the doves to add sport or embarrassment to your wing shooting abilities.
Perdiz:
Perdiz are a game bird similiar to our Quail. It is about the same size and is hunted with German Short-hair pointers. Perdiz hunts are arranged generally for afternoon hunts at the goose areas. Some elect to hunt Perdiz instead of shooting doves. Arrangements must be made a day in advance to set up Perdiz shoots. Limits are 7 per person. Conserving these tasty birds is a high priority for managing their numbers. Included will be 10 hunts, Morning and afternoon. All meals, Ground transportation and lodging.
